Cryogenic Engineer

Janis Research is seeking a Cryogenic Engineer / Physicist with solid experience in designing cryogen free variable temperature cryostats and integrated superconducting magnets, with special attention to reducing or eliminating the vibrations from the cold head to the experimental stage.  The ideal candidate would also have knowledge of physical & analytical measurement systems and experience in computer control using LabView drivers for integrating the various electronic components of the system.

Experience with low (4.2 K and 1.5 K) temperature and ultra low (300 mK and 10 mK) temperature systems would be highly desirable.

Welding Shop Assistant Supervisor

Job Title: Welding Shop Assistant Supervisor

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall operational excellence and process improvements associated with the Welding Shop. Work with the Welding Supervisor and, Engineering, Sales, Production Operators to improve all aspects of the welding fabrication processes, to include part quality, costs, productivity, and on time delivery requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Working assistant supervisor with hands on management style.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, TIG welding thin gauge stainless steel and aluminum, silver and soft soldering, brass, copper, and stainless steel.
  • Experience in the welding of vacuum equipment is highly desirable.
  • Insure that parts are completed in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.
  • Communicate with other departments to assure that work flows through department on a timely basis.
  • Identify, track and report on production delays and quality issues.
  • Provide input on quality defects, facilitate root cause analysis and make recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Hire qualified employees and inspire, lead, and implement internal training programs for all shops.
  • Insure employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate current internal performance levels, cross training requirements, and make recommendations for programs to improve operator performance and track progress.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify and implement metrics that will improve productivity, quality, on time delivery, and overall accountability.
  • Establish and enforce safe work practices by implementing Lean techniques to maintain a world class 5S environment
  • Understand Inventory Control and the Macola ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 - 10 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Training, coaching, mentoring and leadership experience.
  • Experienced leading manufacturing teams to maintain adherence to a demanding production schedule.
  • Experienced facilitating meetings.
  • Experienced authoring and reviewing work instructions, and other controlled documents.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting, investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Experienced in supervising direct reports.
