Double Rotating
Sample Positioner

Janis is now offering special sample positioners with the ability to rotate the sample about the optical axis of the cryostat.

Janis sample positioners have long been able to rotate around the cryostat axis, and now with the addition of a gear mechanism close to the sample, samples may be rotated about an axis perpendicular to the cryostat axis.  Different configurations are available, depending on the individual requirements of the user.  The photograph below shows a sample holder with the flat mounting surface perpendicular to the axis of rotation.  Sample holders with the flat mounting surface parallel to the axis of rotation are also available.

The standard double-rotating sample mechanism fits inside a 1.5" diameter sample tube.  Optional non-magnetic bearings are also available, allowing sample rotation inside a magnet system with a 1.75" diameter sample tube.

These special sample positioners are available with any system with the sample in flowing vapor or exchange gas.  They may also be ordered for use with existing cryostats.
