Model JDR-500
Dilution Refrigerator
April 2005
Janis Research Company introduces our newest model 3He-4He dilution
refrigerator - the JDR-500 After developing the JDR-100 dilution refrigerator
with a cooling power of approximately 150 µW at 100 mK, we have just
finished building and testing the model JDR-500. During its first test this refrigerator delivered a
cooling power of
400 µW at 100 mK at maximum circulation rate, and an ultimate temperature of 8 mK at optimal circulation rate. The first photo below shows the JDR-500 suspended from the 4 K flange of the
vacuum can. The third graph below shows the cooling power as a function of various
circulation rates. The temperature scale was established by calibrating a Janis CMN thermometer against AuIn2, AuAl2, Ir and Be superconducting fixed points.
