All stages include demountable plates (DP), while a
self-contained core forms the dilution refrigerator main body. With this design, the customer is able to remove the
core for any reason without the need to remove the wiring. This product
line offers customers a unique option to build their own special plates for
their dil-fridge system and add the Janis core, minimizing cost and time.
All stages have a central core
consisting of a Still chamber, an intermediate cold plate (ICP), two types of
heat exchangers and a mixing chamber. Easy-to-remove gold-plated copper plates
are attached to the Still and ICP. Standard plates have numerous holes for easy
wire installation. However, customized plates are available as an option to meet
particular experimental requirements.
Janis' proven technology has satisfied customers calling our dil-fridge stages
"reliable" and "leak-free". Janis uses soft-solder free and
indium free technology.
Chambers and heat exchangers are manufactured with CF and VCR
couplings, UHV-compatible brazing alloys and austenitic stainless steel. Before
arriving at your facility, each core is subjected to multiple thermal cycling
between 300 K and 77 K, and rigorous leak testing with a helium leak-detector at
1E-9 scc/s scale.
All stages are contained of the
following main parts :
- Demountable (VCR) mixture
condensing impedance
- Still chamber with mini-CF
flange, super-fluid film suppressor (diaphragm), gold-plated copper bottom
flange,
and return line heat-exchanger
- Standard demountable (split)
gold-plated copper Still plate
- Continuous heat exchanger
(Spiral-in-tube)
- Gold-plated Intermediate Cold
Plate (ICP) with silver powder heat-exchanger
- Standard demountable (split)
gold-plated copper ICP plate
- Silver powder heat exchanger
assembly
- Stainless steel Mixing Chamber
(MC) with gold-plated copper bottom plate and silver powder heat-exchanger
- Resistive ruthenium oxide
temperature sensor (RuO600A) with standard calibration installed on the
Still plate
- Resistive ruthenium oxide
temperature sensor (RuO600A) with standard calibration installed on the
Mixing chamber bottom plate
- 100 Ohm nominal heater on Still
plate (wire wound on copper bobbin)
- 100 Ohm nominal wire wound heater
on MC plate
- Leak check at 300K and 77K with
multiple thermal cycles. Performance characterization test optional.
Janis can customize the stage to meet
your application. Options are available for specialized requirements such as
optical density, extra-low magnetic materials (316 series stainless steel,
bronze or BeCu hardware), or special geometry for central access to magnets.
Stages can be cleaned to UHV specifications and allowed to bake to 90 °C. A
Janis engineer can assist in choosing the best options for your application.
